Brian Baker

A full career in design allowed Brian Baker to found AutoArcheology in 2009. This design consultancy has levered his experience in; Automotive Design for General Motors (25 years) and Tier One suppliers, Speaking engagements about the future, around the world and legal design expertise for OEMs. His experience as a V.P of Design for (ASC) American Specialty Cars provides him with a unique perspective for his clients from multiple side of the design indusrty. Brian has worked on both side of the camera for Discovery Channel as an assistant producer and on camera for ESPN as an automotive historian. He is an officer of the Society of Automotive Historians. Three decades of transportation design and a lifetime of studying the history of the design business have earned him a reputation with his students and the Society of Automotive Historians for his expertise. He also currently teaches taught at the collegiate level the following: In addition to dozens of concept Chevy SSR, 99’GTO, & production vehicles (Cadillac & Chevrolet), he has developed Human Powered Vehicles, Aircraft interiors, Ducati motorcycle bodies, Future Indy racers, Luxury Motor coaches, and Mobile Exhibits for Pepsi. Brian’s work includes two years designing in Germany. Baker’s consultancy includes transportation design clients in S. Korea, Japan, India and the USA. He is a U.S. design patent holder and received GM Chairman’s Honors for helping to develop the 15-year vision for Cadillac. Mr. Baker supports augmenting traditional skills with digital tools. He promotes a classroom that is high energy and collaborative. He introduces global topics for debate and application to the design work of advanced studios.
